Kurt Trampedach studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1964-69.  His greatest influence being that of Rembrandt, expressing a similarity of dark tones and figurative approach in his own work, he broke through as an artist at the end of the 1960s,

When Kurt Trampedach moved permanently to Southern France in 1979, the Pyrenees, he became the man in the mountain (title of documentary),- living in a self-built house and with a great desire to distance himself from the recognition that at times seemed terrifying, he here found the peace and quiet of his surroundings to allow creativity to resurface, in his self-imposed exile.

Kurt Trampedach experienced the greatest tragedy in his career, when his atelier burned down and his work, to the amount of a substantial value, was forever lost. He's here pictured at his atelier on Østerbro in Copenhagen.

Kurt Trampedach's works of art were exhibited in renowned art galleries around the world, including New York, what he expressed to be a personal highlight of  achievement as well as recognition in his career. From the mid- 1980s Trampedach exhibited periodically in New York at the Allan Stone Gallery with great success.
