Tip of the Week: Soften New Reins
How to soften new leather reins: 1. Place each new rein in its own zippered plastic bag with a ¼ cup of olive oil. Seal each bag, except about ½ inch. 2. Microwave each bag for 20 to 30 seconds to warm the oil. 3.Completely seal the bags, and work the oil onto the reins inside the bags. 4. Leave the reins in the bags, and place them in a sunny, warm spot until they soften, for five to six hours. 5. Remove the reins from the bags, and wipe the reins down with a clean, soft cloth.
