Funaya boat houses in the small Japanese fishing village of Ine Cho, a slow haven where time feels frozen and translucent jellyfish float aimless through the seagrass front yards of these boat house homes and cranes perch so delicate while regal hawks soar. And everyone, fauna & human alike, subsists on the bounty of the sea. We had a supper of sashimi and nigiri fresh out of these waters, slept in Funaya no Yado Maruichi, and woke to the laughter of fisherman below.
