There are a bunch of ways to create lidded jars on and off the wheel, and so many uses for them! Honey jar, spices, coffee grounds, tea bags, sugar...how do you use a jar in your home? This is how I like to create my gallery on a wheel thrown jar base. Until I got the perfect @diamondcoretools trimming tool, that just so happened to have this squared off end, I used a generic wood tool with the rounded back and it did the job wonderfully! Sunny mornings in the studio are just 👌 This large bowl will eventually become a pedestal fruit bowl. I throw the bowl and the stand separately and join them later. I’m aiming for a clean, smooth curve to this bowl. So it takes a bit of faffing to get it right! #trimmingabowl #ceramicfruitbowl

I sometimes forget how much of a challenge centring can be, so here’s a few simple tips that might help you process the process. The first, and perhaps most obvious thing is creating the ‘right’ initial shape to actually centre. You need a rounded lump, (ideally with a rounded bottom so it doesn’t trap air when you slam it down), this way your hands flow smoothly over the surface as compared to jittering all over it.
