After the tragic death of their father, Emily and Navin move with their mother to the home of her deceased great-grandfather, but the strange house proves to be dangerous. Before long, a sinister creature lures the kids' mom through a door in the basement. Em and Navin, desperate not to lose her, follow her into an underground world inhabited by demons, robots, and talking animals. Eventually, they enlist the help of a small mechanical rabbit named Miskit.

Blog: http://margauxmotin.typepad.fr/

Jakob Martin #Strid is a danish #cartoonist, #illustrator and #writer of childrens books. I'v followed his work the last 10 years and he is brilliant. His style is #naiv and #simple - yet filled with idealism, hope and humor. I especial love the way his poems relates to children and their way of thinking. http://www.strid.dk/

#Gemma #Correll is a #artist that I only recently discovered and all ready #adore a lot. She seems so honest and giving, in both person and in her work and I think her style is simply genius. I found her when looking for a nice portfolio to get me inspired: http://gemmacorrell.com/

And of course, the famous #Hayao #Miyazaki ! What can I say... I adore his movies and the way he uses color and contrasts.

#Marjane #Satrapi has a #fascinating story. She's a #graphic #novelist, #illustrator, #animation movie #director and children's book #author. I read her graphic novel #Persepolis a couple of years back and was moved by her honesty and style. The drawings is mainly black and white, the lines simple and naive and yet the story colorfull and serious. I hope one day to get a hold of one of her children's books.
