Louis Armstrong on the MGM set of 'High Society', 1956 • Photographed by Bob Willoughby

Louis Armstrong.. Arguably the best trumpet player of all time.

Louis Armstrong. If you don't know his story, it's an amazing one. Growing up in the worst part of New Orleans called "Storyville," Louie Armstrong was a boy who was always in trouble. After being sent to a boy's home for wayward boys, he picked up an instrument. The trumpet. He played like he had always known how to play. Everyone said it was a "Gift from Above."

Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong (1900–1971) One of the most influential artists of all time, Satchmo helped turn jazz from so-called novelty music into fine art. His trumpet technique and style is still copied today
