Family gathers across generations and geographical boundaries; friends meet to cheers for the year that’s gone and the new one soon to come. We open our homes to share in food, drink and companionship. We set the table with inherited silverware and our favourite dinnerware, serving a bounty of warm, hearty dishes that are indicative of this special time of year. We dim the lights and ignite candles, which illuminate precious ornaments as well as the faces of our treasured guests.

Like poetry, Christmas is defined by the underlying meanings and traditions that are personal to the beholder. The treasured rituals that so often have been established over generations enact a distinct feeling of togetherness, bringing us closer to the people we love. To us, Christmas is not a season or a show – it’s a feeling, a state of togetherness, and one that we celebrate in the home. We observe our own carefully practiced traditions, while candles and other ornaments are tucked thoughtfully into their special places. These are small pieces of magic that evoke the Christmas spirit in us.
