The Oddesund Fortress (Oddesund-fæstningen)

The bridge across Oddesund was inaugurated May 15 1938. The bridge's tremendous importance for the German occupiers during 2WW is clear. Therefore they built a fort - "Stützpunkt Oddesund". The dilapidated remnants can still be seen north and south of the bridge and tells a little corner of world history. In it's decay, and despite the historic gloomy purpose, parts of the grotesque construction is due to the ravages of time...now rather beautiful in itself! Take a stroll when you pass by!
