40s dress

The gray days of winter have me looking forward to spring and lighter/brighter clothing. I scanned these from a 1949 insert of the pattern department of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The green ensemble with matching beret in the first picture has my name all over it. I love the color combination. While the 30s is my absolute favorite era, there are so many things I love about the designs of this time period too. So pretty!

A gem of a dress for this era! We just love love love this pattern! An easily made dress with a roll collar buttoned to the waist. Skirt and sleeves could be finished with braid or embroidery if desired. An extremely rare sewing pattern that will take you from daytime to night-time. Just pull-on your jacket, lace up your sneakers, and off you go or pull on your gloves, lace up your shoes and you are ready for that special occasion. A very versatile indeed.
