February Card Class (2017)

In February's card class I wanted to use some products and techniques I don't normally use in class. The first few cards use stencils, we have used them before but not nearly enough! This card is just inks and a stencil, so simple yet so pretty. The next 2 cards use a stencil to make your own background. Then stamping and paper piecing over it. Same thing here except the butterfly is colored with a sparkle marker... very hard to tell in the photo but it is very shimmery. The deer card uses…

Darkroom Door Polka Dots Stencil #2

Here's another card I made for Darkroom Door. Hier nog een kaartje dat ik maakte voor Darkroom Door. I again worked with the new Polka Dots stencil, sprayed Distress Resist Spray through the stencil this time. After drying I colored the background with Distress Spray Stains. Ik gebruikte opnieuw de nieuwe Polka Dots stencil, deze keer in combinatie met Distress Resist Spray. Na het drogen kleurde ik de ondergrond met Distress Spray Stains. I colored the flower using matching Distress Inks…

5 Quick Tips for Using Stencils

You know sometimes stencils can be tricky little buggers. Today I'm sharing 5 quick tips for using stencils. I mean they bend and move around all over the place. It's tough to get a good stencil impression without some sticky assistance. One thing I'd like to point out about stencils, in general, is the thicker the stencil the more stable it is but thinner stencils give a crisper image. It's a catch 22 there. A more stable stencil or a crisper image? That…

Stencil Masking + Rainbow Ink Blending - CZ Design

Today I’ve got two cards featuring a little bit of rainbow stenciling and masking off parts of the stencil. It’s a really simple technique but can give you some great areas to add sentiments to your card projects, or even for pocket page cards for your scrapbooks! Both stencils come from Gina K. Spring Tulips

Hi everyone. I had fun using a couple of stencils to make today's card. I sponged the lattice background and then splattered with pink. I then used the tulip stencil to add embossing paste. Once dry, I placed the stencil back over the paste and sponged on the pink and green inks. I used two shades of pink to give a graduation of color. The sentiment was stamped in gray ink to keep with the softer tones of this card. The sentiment looks crooked, but it is straight in real life --- isn't it…

Technique of the Week: Double Embossing

As you all may know, there are two main kinds of embossing that we do. One is "dry embossing", where you emboss the paper with either a stencil or embossing folder, using a die cut machine or an embossing stylus. The other is heat embossing, where you apply powder to ink on your paper and heat it until it melts. For this technique, we are doing both kinds! RUBBER MAT Before I get into the technique, I want to talk about rubber mats. To emboss a stencil or die using your die cut machine (Big…
