I took a little time this weekend to play with some Distress Ink combos. I have some strips of watercolor paper and mixed media paper from past projects and I just had to put them to good use. These strips won't be wasted, they'll eventually make their way into cards. Here are a few of the color combos that came out of this project. By Dianne Johnson. Distress Oxide Glaze Technique (CASE'd from Tim Holtz). Smear 3 colors of Distress Oxides on craft mat. Spritz. Tap glossy cardstock in inks repeatedly until you like what you see. You can dry the piece between taps or not. Use a brush to splatter ink on the piece if desired. When finished, dry the ink. Buff with paper towel. Using a blending tool, apply Distress Glaze all over the piece. Buff. Use as a background or die cut from it. At the Creativation show this past January, Tim Holtz introduced a really cool technique you can do with Distress Oxides. He was playing around with different substrates for Distress Oxide, and tried the inks on glossy paper, specifically the Ranger Alcohol Ink Cardstock. It seems like Tim Holtz will try anything with his products, including licking the paper (not recommended).
