Most often the color palette that we associate with history is limited to black and white only. But have you ever imagined what did people, their outfits and backgrounds look like in real life - in color? Members of this one group on reddit, called r/ColorizedHistory, sure have: they pick historic photos that we have only seen in black and white, and bring them back to life by digitally coloring them.

It was painful to watch them die...

We've worked long and hard here at Cracked to make it clear that the past was badass. All you have to do is sift through old-timey photos, and you quickly realize that people back then possessed neither sanity nor a sense of self-preservation.

It's March, the time when loathsome shapes seep down from the dark stars. The time when great Cthulhu and his hordes, emerge from green slimy vaults and send out at last, after cycles incalculable, the thoughts that spread fear to the dreams of the sensitive and called imperiously to the faithful to come on a pilgrimage of liberation and restoration.

I belatedly realized that when I rendered out 939 a couple of posts ago, I completely forgot to enable the displacement map. The details were there, but it was entirely two-dimensional. So, I re-rendered it!
