Paleolithic period

This poster set (3 versions in 3 different colors) features a collection of Paleolithic Venuses, also known as Venus figurines, that were created during the Upper Paleolithic period. These small statues, usually made of stone or bone, depict the female form and are thought to have been used in prehistoric rituals or as symbols of fertility.

The Paleolithic Age, also known as the Stone Age, is characterized as the period of human history that began roughly 2.6 million years ago and ended around 10,000 BCE.

The myriad of skin tones and eye colors that humans express around the world are interesting and wonderful in their variety. Research continues on how humans acquired the traits they now have and when, in order to complete the puzzle that is our ancient human history.

These prehistoric rock paintings are in Manda Guéli Cave in the Ennedi Mountains, Chad, Central Africa. Camels have been painted over earlier images of cattle, perhaps reflecting climatic changes.
