We finally got a little snow! This photo was used on the cover of Mass Audubon's Explore magazine, Winter 2021 issue.

Had a fantastic day in the hills with the ptarmigan. There is very little snow left and the ptarmigan were left very exposed in amongst the heather when they wanted to eat so they were quite easy to spot. They would head for what snow was left to protect themselves from any predators. They have started to lose their pristine white winter plumage which is nice to get them in the transition stage.
