Chateau de Monte Christo, le Port-Marly, Yvelines, France. The castle is the home and park of Alexandre Dumas, is located on Port-Marly hill, between Marly-le-Roi and Saint-Germain-en-Laye. In 1844, Alexandre Dumas was at the height of his fame. Flush with the success of The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte-Cristo, he was looking for somewhere where he could escape the turmoil of the city, and find the calm he needed to produce new manuscripts for his editors.
