A spacecraft has to provide shelter, water, food, fuel, waste management, clothing, fresh air, sunlight, gravity, temperature control, humidity control and protection from the elements (natural disasters, pressure differential & radiation).

Designed with sealable openings at the bottom, top and center, allowing aeration no matter the position of spacecraft. Combines the principles of humanure farming with vertical gardening and aquaponics to allow food production. The purpose of this is to supplement our stored food. Duckweed, rinsed with iodine solution.

Air onboard spacecraft is first pumped through photobioreactors to convert CO2 into oxygen. After this step, the resulting air is run at high pressure through a fixed bed packed with different adsorbents, only letting through oxygen and argon. Impurities are subsequently desorbed at low pressure as an off-gas stream and incinerated.

The spacecraft is then placed on a trajectory to Mars, accelerated to high speed by rocket engine, then left to coast until it reaches the planet.
