One has to be amazed. The vision of the design and the craftmanship behind the work of Carl-Harry Stålhane is simply outstanding. Just watch how the mottled brown glazing of this vase match the teak cabinet behind it - this was in no way a coincidence. Stålhane was a perfectionist to his fingertips and wanted his stoneware to compliment the furniture of that time - but he was also a proud and ambitious man, who wanted his designs to have the same kind of popularity and acclaim as the…

SØHOLM Denmark Stoneware Svend Aage Jensen teapot with a raffia wrapped handle from the 1960s. This wonderful piece of Mid Century Danish pottery is decorated with sgraffito technique before burning which gives it a lovely rough surface. My mother has always taught me, that the most wonderful thing about pottery is not what you can see, but what you can feel: Try closing your eyes, she would say and let your fingers wander all across the surface. A good feeling in your fingers is what…

This is, in my opinion, Danish pottery at its best:-) Beautiful slipware blue glaze stoneware bowl in traditional Kähler style - but actually made about 20 years ago by ceramicist Anette Christiansen. Her glazing technique is fabulous and the shimmery blue slipware on this rough piece of stoneware just takes my breath away. I hope that someone will enjoy it as much as I have during the years. Anette is a wonderful potter; trained at Lillerød Lervarefabrik (1893-1995) in the late 1970´s…

Vintage The Little Mermaid souvenir from the 1960s made of, what looks to be, bronzed pewter. Pipe stand in a teak plate. Quirky and kitchy:-) These figures have been produced in large numbers since the 1960s and still are. This one, however, is a quite rare early model - that also function as a pipe holder and has a beautiful teak stand to balance the whole display. The mermaid itself is about 2 1/3inches - 6cm and the length of teak plate is 4.9inches or a little over 12cm. The figurine…
