The #HowdyOwl was designed in #2011 as a collaboration between #norwegian #designers @AndreasEngesvik and @StokkeAustad  for the Designblok exhibition in Prague.  Their aim was to create a #minimalistic object that was inspired by traditional #scandinaviandesign and natural wildlife. The form of the #owl was created in polystyrene before it was put into production. The finished owl #figurine is made of #natural lindenwood that is dried for over 100 days before being milled and sanded.  In…

#NewYork based #Sculptor #DavidWeeks is known for creating #wooden toys and collectables that charm the young and old alike.  #Hattie the #elephant is named after a real elephant that lived in Central Park Zoo.  Like the other wooden #animals in Weeks' range, she is fully posable thanks to clever construction and rubber band ligaments.  You can make her dance, run, sit or even do a handstand. This ponderous little #fox is looking upward at a great open blue sky, the texture of which is reflected in it's tail. Despite selling hundreds of thousands of pieces across both #Scandinavia and #Japan, #Flørning's work was largely forgotten during the seventies and would remain dormant for a generation until they were rediscovered and put into production once more.  The #Pelican was created in #1959 and is one of several pieces which #Danish manufacturer, #LucieKaas has brought back to market.  Some other reissued…
