City Shaping VI: In 21st Century Toronto, There is Momentum
Corktown Common | Toronto, Canada | Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates | Part of a new water feature in the 18-acre park, which is still under construction. If executed as planned, the entire 80-acre precinct will ultimately include 6,000 residential units, and 23-acres of parks and public space. Van Valkenburghs inspiring design, which includes a soaring Modernist pavilion by architect Maryann Thompson, is a triumph of aesthetics and environmental responsibility.

"Sink It, Slow It, Reuse It, Move It" | 8 Shades of Green Infrastructure | The Rush University Medical Center (Chicago, Illinois) streetscape is lined with stormwater infiltration planters and includes drought-resistant plantings. The flow-through planters reduce urban runoff and minimize the need to irrigate street trees and vegetation.
