September 30, 2005 - The Danish Jyllands-Posten publishes twelve satirical political cartoons picturing the islamitic prophet Muhammad. The publishing led to a huge controversy because it is considered highly blasphemous in most Islamic traditions to make a picture of the prophet Muhammad. The controversy led to riots resulting in over 100 deaths all around the world. #history #cartoon #riot #Muhammad

Understanding the strong reaction required prior knowledge of the cultural rules in the Koran which forbids the depiction of the prophet in any shape or form.
