Doris is an old lady who first accuses Mr. Matimba of using Tambu as child labor, then is persuaded into giving him a good amount of money. Doris represents all white people in this story. They perceive black people as malicious and not of good intentions. Only some people actually do give to them, but most say that white people should be generous because they can be.
