Touching Miniature Portrait of Mother & Child, Possibly a Mourning Portrait

This wonderful miniature portrait of mother and child is painted with watercolour on card and I believe dates to the beginning of the nineteenth century. My reasons for thinking this could be a mourning portrait is mainly because of the way the mother is painted with her hair down and a simple collar around her neck.
