Historic Lighthouse, 30 Mile Point, New York State Imagine meandering down a long road to an isolated lighthouse on the south shore of Lake Ontario. The waves are crashing on the rocky shoreline. The lighthouse was built in 1875, of hand-carved limestone, in the High Victorian Gothic style. It has warned mariners away from dangerous shoals for almost 150 years. It gets its name because it is the point 30 miles east of the Niagara River. Some say it is haunted....
