Among the tubular steel furniture models, the cantilever chair S 32 is especially versatile. It is at home in various design worlds and fits in with uncompromisingly modern interior design as well as in a diversified mix that gives space to different epochs and styles. CHAIR S 33 By Thonet
This chair - together with the S 34 version with armrests - is the first cantilever chair in furniture history. They were used for the first time in 1927 in the Weissenhof-Siedlung in Stuttgart. Starting in 1925, Mart Stam experimented with gas pipes that he connected with flanges and developed the principle of cantilevering chairs that no longer rest on four legs.
B97 NESTING TABLES By Thonet
When tubular steel first appeared on the scene in the furniture sector in the1920s, architect Marcel Breuer created the famous table set B 9 using this new material. The various chair models were developed afterwards. The Thonet catalog from 1930/31 already included a large range of side furniture, designed by Breuer and other architects - and also by Thonet. The series includes: B 97, a set consisting of two low side tables. They can be pushed into one another.
B9 NESTING TABLES By Thonet
During his time at the Bauhaus Marcel Breuer experimented with steel and tubular steel as materials by logically translating the principles of furniture design appropriate for the material involved from wood to this new material. The proximity to the Junkers plant in Dessau was of enormous advantage. Among his first designs are the nesting tables B 9 and shelves as well as side furniture (B 10, B 22).
CHAIR 118 By Thonet
The 118 chair by Thonet - Minimalistic and honest, at the same time elegant and filigree: chair 118 is a classic wooden chair that adds subtle elegance to any dining table or restaurant. The principle of reducing a chair to the fewest elements possible was introduced by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century. Chair 118 is a further development that considers the company’s heritage and goes one step further.
S 64 V CHAIR By Thonet
Among the tubular steel furniture models, the cantilever chair S 64 is especially versatile. It is at home in various design worlds and fits in with uncompromisingly modern interior design as well as in a diversified mix that gives space to different epochs and styles. The cantilever chair S 32 and the version S 64 with armrests are the most famous tubular steel classics.
CHAIR 209 By Thonet
This elegant bentwood classic is a masterpiece in its construction and production: the projecting frame that forms both the backrest and armrest is bent into its form from a single piece of solid beech wood. Like the original model of all bentwood chairs, no. 214, chair no. 209 also consists of only six parts. Due to its aesthetic reduction in combination with the organic form, it almost looks like a sculpture.
S 285/2 WRITING DESK By Thonet
An Unsurpassed Piece of Modern Design This tubular steel desk is a successful example of the Bauhaus' programmatic claim of combining art and technology into a formal unit. The tabletop and storage elements made of varnished or stained wood harmonically fit in with the tubular steel design. The supporting frame consists of a single line; the wooden elements seem to float in it.
