Late 19thC Musical Pig Candy Container Recently I listed and sold a felt pig that, when you cranked its tail, played a bit of tune. I have now purchased another similar but different pig out of a private collection. Not only does this charming creature play a small tune when you turn her tail, she is also a candy container. How wonderful is that! Covered in felt over composition, her head comes off so that small candy beads could be placed in her body cavity for some very lucky Victorian child.

A scratch decorated egg made by Barbara Gehman of Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County in 1831. Mennonite Heritage Center Collection; gift of Harold Doneda Clemmer (2019.25.1).
