IJN Battleship Nagato Final Appearance: Both Nagato and Mutsu were given major reconstructions between 1934 and 1936, finally emerging in the form shown here. Mutsu was lost in 1943, but Nagato survived the war, probably the biggest surviving Japanese warship, and certainly the last IJN battleship. She was ceded to US and met her end as a target ship for the Bikini Atom bomb tests in 1946, in company with the USS Saratoga, USS Nevada and the German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen.
